The review of literature and analysis of interviews with church planters focused on three key areas of planting churches that affect pastors: the church planter as a man, the church planter's message, and the church planter's mission. In the area of the church planter as a man, the findings revealed that the church planter must be biblically qualified and spiritually gifted. In the area of the church planter's message, the findings demonstrated that the church planter must preach the gospel from all of scripture. In the area of the church planter's mission, the study determined that the church planter must join the mission of God by incarnating the gospel in culturally understandable ways. The study categorizes the leadership attributes listed in 1 Timothy 3:2, 2 Timothy 2:24 and Titus 1:6-7 into six dimensions to measure the quality of ruling elders.    Data collected from 92 pastors via questionnaire, was analyzed to test the validity of the study using SPSS Procedure Factor Analysis and Reliability. The project demonstrates that a proactive strategy to renew a congregation can affect attitudes and perceptions of members positively, but improved rates of growth and assimilation are more difficult to attain and require great intentionality on the part of everyone involved. From this analysis, six principles have been identified contributing to numerical growth: a church-centered life, conservative theology, dedicated pastors, prayer meetings, small group meetings, and the homogeneous unit.  The writer seeks to discover the correlation between the implementation of these principles and church growth.  By comparing the rate of growth between those churches that practice these principles with those that do not, a valid judgment was made whether a correlation exists between the adherence of these principles and church growth.  The writer's hypothesis was not supported.
