This study utilized semi-structured interviews with twelve pastors in the Reformed Church in America focusing on leadership skills and transition, power and authority dynamics, and staff relations. The study revealed that the transition from solo to senior pastorate affects personal and professional aspects of the pastor's life. The project is a qualitative case study that makes use of observations, document analysis, and individual and group interviews to gather data that provides a rich description of doctrinal and missional commitments at Lakeview. This study examines this dilemma in the practice of pastors in the Westminster Tradition. The pastoral practice has sought to define what it means to partake of the Supper in a worthy manner, and pastors have urged their parishioners to examine themselves for the presence of gospel knowledge, faith, repentance and love, or new obedience. Meanwhile, a minority tradition existed which frowned on self-examination and focused instead on those who had a covenantal right to the Supper as defined by baptism and church membership. The 'fencing' tradition is an endangered species today. Postmodern authors have noted a significant change in Western culture, affecting world view and specifically denying the existence of an over-arching explanation of reality known as metanarrative. This study employed a qualitative research design interviewing twelve Teaching Elders of the PCA. The findings revealed a strong commitment to the Reformed value that scripture alone is sufficient as a source for the content of sermons. With so much information on leadership in the secular world and in the Christian world, how does the leader discern what to teach other leaders? This study looked specifically at God as leader, Jesus as leader, Moses, David and Paul as leaders. Secondly, the study reviewed the extra-Biblical literature on the topic of leadership. Eight Area Directors were interviewed by the author and asked to discuss what they were teaching in their leadership training times. The results were compiled from these three sources and concluded whether or not the Area Directors were on the right course in teaching Biblical leadership principles. Recommendations were made based on finds. This study utilized a qualitative design using semi-structured interviews. The review of literature and analysis of the interviews focused on three key areas that make for maximum impact on the worshiper: intellect, affect, and will. The study concluded that for meaningful worship to happen, the engagement of all three areas is essential, making an impact that continues throughout the week. The research consisted of a qualitative study in which five families which include a mentally handicapped child were interviewed separately to explore their experiences with God and with local churches. The interviews focused on how church planting impacts the planters, spouses and their marriages. A forty-question church effectiveness survey, developed for the purpose of identifying effective rural churches, was mailed to the pastors of sixty-seven rural Reformed churches in northern Iowa. Data was gathered through six focus group meetings which revealed the following five characteristics of effective rural churches: a leadership team characterized by open discussion and good communication, a comfortable atmosphere, a willingness to address and resolve difficulties and an ability to trust each other; Willingness to experiment with new ideas for the church; Encouragement of members to participate and use their gifts; Involvement in the community; Friendliness towards and encouragement of members and
