In the days and weeks to follow, almost every sector of life around the world was impacted as the virus became a global pandemic, and unprecedented restrictions were enacted for public safety. Businesses and schools were closed; sporting events were cancelled; gatherings were restricted; and face coverings were mandated. Overnight, churches were forced to adapt and embrace various digital media platforms to create an online presence and develop new strategies to minister to their congregations. This research project examined the implementation of a hybrid (in-person and online) church ministry model at Brookridge Baptist Church in Plover, WI using two descriptive surveys. The study sought to discover if the hybrid church model could help meet spiritual needs and facilitate personal church involvement during both a period of restricted gatherings and the ensuing phases of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as a part of the regular ministry of the church going forward. Two descriptive surveys were administered during two different points in time during the pandemic formed the basis of the research. The first survey was given in April 2020 during a time of state-mandated restricted gatherings, and a second in December 2021 while the pandemic continued in its variant forms."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130303768559616,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:29:28.041Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:55:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:37:49Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b545cbe8-e209-4fba-8eea-a2c7f091fa70","accessControl_ssim":["f333220d-0e7a-4a95-9a11-56b4bc50df70"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An Assessment Of The Exodus Of The Second Generation Believers From The Mar Thoma Church In America"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:55:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:22:01Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2d7c3470-86fe-4a84-917a-0009b787244d"],"hasLease_ssim":["411504d3-8791-43a8-a1df-63a32c5756e9"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["D. The body of the dissertation is divided into three parts. The first part examines current literature on the following: (1) Immigrants' role in America's changing demographic and the role of religion in the preservation of language and culture, (2) The historical development of ministries to the second-generation immigrants, (3) attempts to foster intergenerational relationships (4) the importance of leadership development, and (5) biblical parallels of generational and cultural challenges. The second part involves the research procedure and the rationale for choosing the case study methodology to investigate the selected immigrant churches in their specific cultural and religious contexts. The last part details case studies of immigrant churches that successfully minister to their second-generation believers. Since second-generation church members live and actively participate in the world of their parents and that of the land of their birth, they are often conflicted with unique challenges related to acculturation. The challenge for the immigrant church is to determine which indigenous religious policies, traditions, and cultural practices are worth adopting and which need to be rejected; which need to be retained, and which must be negotiated and adapted. As a result, the dissertation then concludes with a chapter detailing some best practices that are intergenerational and transcultural to fit in various ethnic contexts. These principles will make the case for the immigrant church to be regarded both as a multigenerational and an intergenerational household."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129871882125312,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:22:36.162Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:12:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:40:40Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d42a7ada-6ee7-4b78-81f9-b06989a5ae97","accessControl_ssim":["bc42c48e-591d-4551-8af5-e2b41bb9e8af"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Case studies of leadership practices for leading cultural transformation within church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T13:12:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:11:48Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["f8b30af0-24da-4a01-a4c1-f1ee29f4371f"],"hasLease_ssim":["8bb1ec28-22b4-4285-91ec-ab0e1885bd9d"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Barry D Jones"],"year_tesim":["2010"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Heath E Marion"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Organizational change","Congregations","Christianity and culture","Social groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis of this dissertation is that there is an association between key leadership practices that allow leaders to transform organizational church culture. The new facility was intentionally designed to double the present facility's capacity. Our new facility will exceed the present occupancy needs and that the church finances will be seen as a contributing factor in the future ministry of the church. Two churches that split fifteen years ago because of a dispute about leadership decided to merge again. This project uses the reconciliation of these two churches as a model for other congregations that may consider merging. Three major criteria--philosophical, relational, and physical--are crucial factors for a successful merger. Hindrances to unity stemmed from spiritual conflicts and a process requiring unanimous decisions. Conflicts involved leadership issues, power plays by individuals, personal preferences about worship, and conflict over Christian life teaching that led to tabling the merger and renewed division. The project outlines seven steps toward a successful merger that formed a new church, based on the experience of these churches and research in the literature."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130881226702848,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:38:38.748Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:50:52Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:44:48Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fca83088-8512-4ed8-a093-2f400b195fb7","accessControl_ssim":["35305bc5-782f-4806-b026-0148d54dc8b6"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Case studies of pastoral leadership in the church, 16"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:50:51Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:21:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a9bdc61a-fddd-46b4-a551-841d43f6232f"],"hasLease_ssim":["f8585848-e604-4400-9c65-e565ea8f45a7"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Gary S Karwoski"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Congregations","Case studies"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["As part of the larger Project Cathedral, asking 'What makes a Christian leader effective?', this project presents case studies of two Christian pastors of apparently successful churches in the midwestern United States.
