Case studies were done using one-on-one interviews. Eight women were selected on the basis of their potential to contribute to the study. Assessment was done on the basis of their relationships with their father, the struggles they had in coming to know God as Father, and what proved helpful to them. The literature review includes research in the fields of family life, spiritual formation, the role of the father in child development, the process of healing childhood pain, and Christian education. There are biblical principles given from the scriptures and how they inform us about a relationship with God as our Father. The ultimate goal was to describe the experience of living fatherless. Corinthians I","Preaching--Study and teaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research project uses a strategy for increasing spiritual growth in the believers at River Cities Community Church, Huntington, WV.  A long-term sermon plan was developed and implemented using the book of 1 Corinthians.  An instrument was developed and used to pretest and posttest in order to measure the effectiveness of the program.  Focus groups were utilized to complement the quantitative data.  The analysis of the posttest and data from the focus groups show a measurable change toward growth in some areas of Scriptural beliefs, attitudes, values, and behavior. As the project developed into this dissertation, testing was used to evaluate the impact on church members of the content, both concerning knowledge and also attitudes and behavioral intentions. Pretests and posttests were used to establish each attendee's knowledge, attitudes and behavior and the amount of gain after each of six teaching sessions. This project began with the development of a curriculum that incorporated all of the events and teachings in Jesus' life. The participants engaged in daily personal study and weekly small group interaction over a 12-week period. They also agreed to lead another individual or group through the same study. Through pre-program, post=program, and final interviews, the participants reported cognitive, attitudinal, and behavioral results.
