The `null' hypothesis was 'there will be no significant difference in reported behaviors and attitudes by a congregation in a church before and after it has experienced a week of special services.'  The hypothesis was proven correct. The small groups were expanded to become a meta-church model in September 1993 with the evaluation ending April 1994.  The thesis (using empirical research) was to show that the meta-church model would have immediate and long-term qualitative and quantitative effects upon the church.  The results of the program and research included 4 small groups with 43 adults increasing to 11 with 101 adults, with an increase from 42 percent to 81 percent participation in April 1994. Each of the couples took the PREPARE marital inventory at the beginning (pre-test) and end (post-test) of the program to measure the progress of the couples and the effectiveness of the program. Statistical hypothesis testing also reveals a significant difference in the rate of forced exits between pastors who have served primarily in disciplining churches and those who have not. A book was written and tested by surveying Christians in the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI).  Results demonstrate evangelical families have frustrations with churches and ministers.  They also struggle with isolation, depression, fears, denial, family conflicts and concern over demons.  These who withdraw from Christian fellowship or think demons cause mental illness respond with lower test scores. In the situation, twelve children and male adolescents were sexually abused by a male teenager from the church family. The focus of the research was upon the manner in which the leadership dealt with the problem.  Information was gathered from various parties involved; the responses of these various groups were then compared and evaluated.  The goal of the research was to discover and chronicle principles of leadership in the midst of a crisis, specifically one involving sexual abuse in a church. Questions regarding church discipline involved what constitutes cause for official church discipline, how discipline is to be carried out, and what also constitutes reason for the removal of the action. The dissertation also briefly addressed the issue of the relationship of church and state in matters involving the criminal activity of a church member. Doctrine I is a required course in the In-Ministry Master of Religious Education program of the Southeast Asia Extension Program. The course was taught at the four seminar sites of SAEP (Manilla, Ilolio City, Hong Kong and Bangkok), with twenty-seven students participating.  A pretest-posttest design was followed using two equivalent tests.  The data gathered was also used to compare the scores of Bible college and secular college graduates, to study the educational value of detailed lecture notes compared to outline notes, and to compare the scores of three groups by nationality.  The posttest scores were sufficiently higher than the pretest scores to show the overall effectiveness of the course.
