As a personality typology founded on the psychodynamics of sin in nine different self-presentations, the Enneagram can be used with a theologically based phenomenology and it identifies a direction for continued spiritual growth for each type. Workshop participants find the Enneagram useful in addressing issues of spirituality and increasing self-understanding and insight, but its usefulness in revealing and explaining sin is more limited. This narrative construct enables the client to envision him or herself as a person in Exodus who is called to integrate the self and to mirror the creative power of God through the performance of Mitzvot.  Biblical and Rabbinic texts are combined with Heinz Kohut's theories.  The author links nodal points of the Exodus with critical phases of personality development and with the inner development of the counselor. While the results did not establish such a relationship, they do argue for a possible relationship between God-image and the Millon (MCMI) dependent self-other orientation at the suggestive level of interpretation.  These results, which were obtained through contingency square analysis with chi-square, were bolstered by parallel diagnostic data.
