The study reveals congregational leaders experienced emancipatory feelings of hope and spiritual agency when utilizing the innovation tool of a business Miniplan. Liberating congregations from the oppression of financial scarcity freed church leaders to consider new ways to address increasing costs, particularly deferred maintenance of aging buildings. This project used Participating Action Research as its research orientation, since it is ideal for business and church research. As a result, the Black church, in many cases, has become irrelevant on social issues that affect the communities where they are located. This project demonstrates that the ministry of worship can be used to offer church council members a more clearly focused and more richly rewarding experience of serving in leadership. This study explores how this emerging church planting method is being used to involve previously unchurched people into new congregations. Three examples of successful adoptions were studied in a multiple case study design. The researcher's thesis was that by studying past church adoptions we can begin to understand, describe, and possibly even quantify a process that will lead to more successful adoptions in the future. Results describe optimal conditions and best practices, as well as a framework based on John Kotter's Eight Steps for Leading Change. The project uses semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and participatory group observation to collect data on change in clergy participants' leadership of missional growth before and after implementation of skills derived from the practice of midwifery.  The data collected measures change in discernment ability and effectiveness in advancing mission. We believe God has equipped us to do work to this end, through local churches. What is often lacking is awareness of the divine call to specific areas of service. I used individual interviews, asking people about their experience in service and any sense of divine guidance, and followed each interview with an online assessment of spiritual gifts. There clearly is a correlation between service, divine guidance, and spiritual gifts. This study explores the incubated dreams of current students and graduates of Audire: The Central Florida Foundation for Spiritual Direction.  Participants incubated a dream about their work as spiritual directors and were interviewed using the Gayle Delaney method to assist in dream interpretation.
