This project evolved because I have seen the collateral damage that has occurred between incumbent and emerging leaders.  It is based upon the research completed by Ron Carcucci in Leadership divided: what emerging leaders need and what might be missing.I brought together a selected group of incumbent and emerging leaders to see how the relationship gap that separates them could be reduced. I invited them to join me for an eight-session learning experience. The project organized two groups of men, one based on group process that featured goal setting and group interaction, the other based on a curriculum presented by a teacher. Thirteen laypersons were trained during seven sessions in the principles of leadership, small group discipleship, group building, and the inductive Bible study method.  These principles were applied to the existing adult Bible study program.  Evaluation procedures revealed a positive move from a basic lecture style of teaching to a relational style of teaching.
