Barriers often keep the church from this natural growth. The purpose of this project is to train key leaders of New Life Baptist Church to identify these barriers and make plans to remove them. Through a leadership workshop and follow-up meetings leaders were prepared to use studies of the church and communtiy to arrive at detailed plans to address the brriers found. Working with a ten-member team from Litz Manor Baptist Church, we journeyed through eight distinct phases of transformation. Each phase utilized questionnaires, group coaching and teamwork principles to elicit open and transparent feedback. By focusing on outward ministry possibilities, this team discovered several options for future growth, implementing three. My thesis was that congregational input and participation in discovery and development of a vision would enhance ownership and increase intentional ministry effectiveness in a church with no clear sense of purpose, vision and direction.  The method of study involved extensive research regarding church growth, development of an eight-session teaching plan, and presentation of the plan within the local church. The project's purpose is to help the congregation effectively assimilate new people by placing them in fulfilling church service.  To accomplish this, consultants were trained to use the MBTI to place people effectively in church volunteer ministry.  This project concludes that Myers-Briggs is not an appropriate tool for 'placing' people in ministry.  The ethics of Myers-Briggs do not encourage such usage. Research on theology, relationships, leadership, and church growth provided the theological and theoretical rationale.  Twelve people participated.  Each participant signed a covenant of learning before the project and wrote a covenant of ministry afterwards. Evaluations were collected from participants, the field supervisor, and the project director.
