These churches developed new strategies to minister to college age students in their churches. A training session educated the pastors about the beliefs of college students and how to minister to them. The pastors were given evangelism experience on the UNLV campus. An evaluation meeting was conducted about their findings. The project took place over a period of five months between September 2010 and January 2011. The director of the Baptist Student Union at Pearl River Community College structured the project around personal interviews, teaching sessions, and a silent retreat. This project provides laymen with a short-term introduction to and training in ministry to commuter college students.  Lay volunteers from several churches served four hours one day a week for six weeks in six ministry activities on campus.  The project took place during the first six weeks of the school year on a commuter college campus comprised of three institutions with a total enrollment of 33,000 students. The chaplain asked fifty-two students to form nine counseling groups focusing on their interpersonal conflicts.  In six sessions they were trained to use an ethical model to resolve their conflicts. From this study the leaders developed a college program involving each organization of the church.  The project made the leadership more aware of students' needs.
