It becomes a serious issue when churches do not deal with it correctly.  The project intended to encourage churches to establish and implement a policy of conflict resolution.  The training aided the churches in developing peacekeeping teams that could deal effectively with conflict. The project required research, writing, and developing an eight-hour interactive seminar for six local churches of varied denominations as well as personnel from the Northwest Baptist Convention. The project involved three phases. Phase 1 involved pre-seminar tests and interviews to help determine personal histories.  Phase 2 was the seminar, incorporating the Myers-Briggs instrument.  Phase 3 was course evaluation and participants being re-tested and interviewed. The chaplain asked fifty-two students to form nine counseling groups focusing on their interpersonal conflicts.  In six sessions they were trained to use an ethical model to resolve their conflicts. A questionnaire was designed to survey and gather data on conflict management of Chinese-born and American-born Chinese church leaders. The project was designed to help the participants understand their personal attitudes about conflict, to develop an awareness of mediation, and to train them to become mediators by using a mediation model. The project involved a pre-seminar test, a conflict management inventory, lectures on the theological and theoretical basis for mediation, role play, and case studies.
