This project took a select group of staff and lay-leaders meeting in small groups and facilitated the development of their emotional intelligence and spiritual maturity. At the end of the process, the participants committed to reproduce this process with a group the following semester. Learning theory and sociological dynamics helped shape the small group atmosphere. The project rendered that character formation effectively takes place in a small group setting. Twelve people from Mission Village Baptist Church were trained for one month in the subjects of evangelism, missions, and the culture and customs of Tijuana, Mexico. Then, five people spent two months making four evangelistic mission trips to Tijuana, Mexico, implementing the training they had received. The methods used in this project entailed designing an equipping and training model of evangelism to reach the non-Christians in Tijuana, Mexico. This project evolved because I have seen the collateral damage that has occurred between incumbent and emerging leaders.  It is based upon the research completed by Ron Carcucci in Leadership divided: what emerging leaders need and what might be missing.I brought together a selected group of incumbent and emerging leaders to see how the relationship gap that separates them could be reduced. I invited them to join me for an eight-session learning experience. The students are exposed to a variety of vocational ministry opportunities through guest speakers and observation of ministry settings.
