The author introduced ways to stimulate communication within the congregation using the appreciative inquiry method in structuring surveys and questioners that guided the conversations of the congregation during workshops and trainings. It presents the challenge for pastors preaching sermons to people from multiple language groups by examining the ingredients of communication and presenting an approach to preparing and delivering sermons. Preaching in English where multiple language groups are present is the resulting seminar that teaches a system of preparing sermons. The preparation of a sermon involves a six step process which is listener-focused. The pastor's effective delivery of these sermons requires an understanding of how verbal and nonverbal categories of preaching will impact listeners of different ethnic groups. Preaching extemporaneously allows the minister to sustain eye contact with listeners and it also enables the preacher's speech patterns to be more conversational and hence more alive, and immediate, appealing to post modern audiences. Much has been written about extemporaneous preaching but there is a dearth of comprehensive and consistent information on how to do it. The thesis of this project is that various authors who have written methodologies on how to preach without notes can be synthesized into a comprehensive and usable application for preaching without notes. Data from listeners in a congregation suggests that preaching that is engaging and immediate is favored whether from notes or not. The grid will take cultural synthesis a step further toward a practical use.  What is found here will assist preachers in developing a Listener's Grid of their own.  When this process is included in sermon preparation the cultural context into which the sermon will be preached comes into better focus.  Communicators can then get a feel for the way in which the listeners will hear what is said.  This process is meant to be a tool for use in more easily crafting life-application sermons.  The process is meant to be customized for interpreting one's own cultural context.  Once that is done the culture becomes a tool of communication.
