The research findings reveal that the institutional leadership brought by the early British missionaries to Africa served its purpose at the time. However, as we move into the 21st century, this mode of leadership becomes inadequate for the church and Tidings of Faith. The research revealed that institutional leadership has failed to address all the questions of leadership distance between clergy and laity, that the clergy have been saddled with the work of running almost every aspect of the ministry while the laity almost always become spectators, and there has been no conscious attempt within this ministry to train laity for future leadership continuity. The researcher proposed team leadership as an effective and up-to-date option for Tidings of Faith in the years ahead. A number of recommendations were made to enhance the administration of this mode of leadership, including strategies to manage conflict and moral issues, trainings for laity, and mentoring programs for the next generation of church leaders."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132298734731264,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:01:10.589Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:23:06Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:29:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"27562eea-2eb0-4e4e-8081-5c4a24aaaa0d","accessControl_ssim":["58966f3a-d427-4a14-bb44-d41677c9cbe2"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A continuing education program for local church leaders of Burkina Faso: training ministers to balance numerical growth with spiritual maturity in the churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:23:05Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:17:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3e1d3c7c-2de8-438f-8024-454d63bf2718"],"hasLease_ssim":["5dd4517c-5597-41d5-910e-bc068ef07ff5"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David Horn"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"location_tesim":["Burkina Faso"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Zacharie Delma"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religious education-","Spiritual formation","Theology, Practical--Study and teaching","Burkina Faso","Clergy--Training of","Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This work is a study focused on the development of a continuing training program for local church leaders in Burkina Faso. It asserts that a continuing education program is a lever that can promote not only development and well-being but also spiritual maturity. The fast-growing church and a low level of education are realities the churches in Africa are facing. Many local church leaders lack sufficient training to care well for their flocks. This problem is exacerbated by multiple challenges the country faces. In addition to a lack of development and education, there is pressure to have a large number of congregants but no effort to build qualitative spiritual formation. Continuing education aims to change lives by equipping the local church leaders with knowledge and leadership tools that help them to promote change in attitude and behaviors. The training program set to reach the goal of maturity is presented. Based on feedback obtained from leaders and teachers, this work gives instruction for further development of the continuing education program."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130277459787776,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:29:02.951Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:35:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"46ce1c76-4216-4180-89ab-eeccb8cba21d","accessControl_ssim":["bdfd32b3-392c-4b5c-9d9d-792fecfcd2ab"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Church replanting in mainline churches: vision casting and equipping evangelical church replanters"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:11:58Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["a9d4f9c8-e8aa-4dd6-9424-538df29debc9"],"hasLease_ssim":["87d766fc-3557-47b1-a275-a3e130e96789"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Garth M Rosell"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"location_tesim":["United States"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["James S Harrell"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Evangelicalism","Preaching, Evangelical","Clergy--Training of","Protestant churches","Church renewal--Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The mainline denominations, as of 2011, have more than 80,000 churches across America, with over 19 million members, which make up greater than 15% of the US population. Many of these churches are in a declining status, often due to the removal of the historic gospel from the pulpits. It will take preaching the historic gospel of Jesus Christ from the pulpit once again to revitalize these churches. Towards that end, this project was undertaken to help cast a vision for revitalizing mainline churches and to encourage evangelical pastors to consider pursuing pulpits in mainline churches, to replant the gospel seed, and to revitalize these churches in order to reach communities for Christ. This thesis is targeted at church replanters and church replanter coaches. The project seeks to provide a theological framework on renewal as applied to mainline churches, address the practical aspects of equipping evangelical pastors to serve in mainline pulpits through a church replanter coaching curriculum, and to set this vision within a larger historical framework."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130688413499392,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:34.867Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:05Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:20:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"015014f7-22aa-4547-a6e6-26f03d973978","accessControl_ssim":["6688d1c1-16ac-48c4-b7d1-9ae78230dc6e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The origin and impact of dysfunctional families in the churches of Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico: a Christian response"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:10:04Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:09:17Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["415e8a1b-7e9b-4198-a03d-41abfbade753"],"hasLease_ssim":["2b3410ec-022e-4d7e-990b-4ce7e536ac89"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Alvin Padilla"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"location_tesim":["Mexico--Ensenada (Baja California)","Mexico"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jorge G Gonzalez-Fragoso"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","Family","Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A study was performed to identify the presence of dysfunctional families in the evangelical churches from Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico, and the impact level that this problem causes in the ministry of these churches. An evaluation to identify the dysfunctional level in the families from these churches was performed. The surveyed pastors accept the existence of dysfunctional families within the Christian church, recognizing that this affects its healthy development. It is concluded that the level of dysfunction found in the Christian families was not overwhelmingly serious, but it is significant due to pernicious behavioral patterns transmitted generationally. The conclusions offer a view to the outcomes compared to the humanitarian and evangelistic goals of the organization's mission."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130464429277184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:01.259Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:01:55Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:56:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ac9c30e8-ce64-48ed-8648-5c9586572641","accessControl_ssim":["7db34bf2-77e7-4865-a140-12cd3640b555"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Puritan way: models of piety for reform and renewal in the Japanese Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:01:54Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:07:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["28cf88a9-a64e-4422-a833-2ebb0941d455"],"hasLease_ssim":["9c424a63-04e3-4c48-b5e3-d240bbcebe20"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Garth M Rosell"],"year_tesim":["2004"],"location_tesim":["Japan"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David J Walker"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Protestant churches","Church renewal--Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The Protestant church in Japan has struggled to grow.  Recent growth statistics offer little encouragement as to the promise of a revitalized church.  Yet church history shows that God has visited his church with seasons of blessing.  Are there historical models that can be reapplied to the church today?  Can the answer to perplexing issues of church growth and spiritual vitality be found in Puritan spirituality? The basic idea for the thesis developed as a result of class discussions on spiritual renewal and models of Christian spirituality. It also grew out of reading dynamics of the spiritual life and renewal as a way of life.  Spiritual renewal occurred in the evangelical Protestant church due to their emphasis on outward mission, the fulfillment of the Great Commission, the person and power of the Holy Spirit, and the prevailing power of prayer. Both Simpson and Bright saw the Protestant church in America and the world as impotent and in need of revival and renewal. As they emphasized evangelism and discipleship, they became effective change agents for renewal, as they were able to motivate thousands of willing workers for the task of world evangelization. The parachurch groups they started were not rivals to the existing Protestant church. Both men saw themselves as working with other likeminded evangelical Christians for the restoration and renewal of the church to a place of prominence and power throughout the world. Eventually, many of the individuals evangelized and discipled by the Christian and Missionary Alliance and Campus Crusade for Christ became involved in local churches, evangelical schools, and missionary sending agencies.  By the year 2004, these ministries continue in their efforts to evangelize and disciple people throughout the world in their desire help fulfill the Great Commission in obedience to Christ's command."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130491615707136,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:32:27.185Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":9,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"Antal Balog","hits":1,"label":"Antal Balog"},{"value":"Chadwick Samuel Mohan","hits":1,"label":"Chadwick Samuel Mohan"},{"value":"David J Walker","hits":1,"label":"David J Walker"},{"value":"James S Harrell","hits":1,"label":"James S Harrell"},{"value":"Jonathan C Frazier","hits":1,"label":"Jonathan C Frazier"},{"value":"Jorge G Gonzalez-Fragoso","hits":1,"label":"Jorge G Gonzalez-Fragoso"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Commissions--Biblical teaching","hits":1,"label":"Commissions--Biblical teaching"},{"value":"Independent church associations","hits":1,"label":"Independent church associations"},{"value":"Missionaries, American","hits":1,"label":"Missionaries, American"},{"value":"Relation (Theology)","hits":1,"label":"Relation (Theology)"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Protestant churches","hits":9,"label":"Protestant churches"},{"value":"Church renewal--Protestant churches","hits":2,"label":"Church renewal--Protestant churches"},{"value":"Clergy--Training of","hits":2,"label":"Clergy--Training of"},{"value":"Evangelicalism","hits":2,"label":"Evangelicalism"},{"value":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","hits":2,"label":"Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity"},{"value":"Missions","hits":2,"label":"Missions"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[{"value":"United States","hits":2,"label":"United States"},{"value":"Balkan Peninsula","hits":1,"label":"Balkan Peninsula"},{"value":"Burkina Faso","hits":1,"label":"Burkina Faso"},{"value":"Europe","hits":1,"label":"Europe"},{"value":"India","hits":1,"label":"India"},{"value":"India--Madras","hits":1,"label":"India--Madras"}],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":9,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary","hits":9,"label":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":9,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"2009","hits":3,"label":"2009"},{"value":"2004","hits":2,"label":"2004"},{"value":"2011","hits":2,"label":"2011"},{"value":"2007","hits":1,"label":"2007"},{"value":"2012","hits":1,"label":"2012"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary","hits":9,"label":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":9,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary","hits":9,"label":"Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":9,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":9,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
