The author's method of study includes educated sources such as theological commentaries, lexicons, secular and religious reference books, journals, newspapers, the internet and personal interviews. The conclusion the author reaches is that the debate centered on biblical interpretation of scripture is subjective to one's Christian faith persuasion. The biblically orthodox Christian faith belief opposes homosexuality and supports the traditional family value system. The unorthodox Christian viewpoint favors a revisionist theology that redefines homosexual practice as ordained by God and therefore morally acceptable. It begins by tracing the foundation of its mission throughout its historical roots and demonstrates the profound effects that the YMCA has been able to accomplish when it has operated according to its mission of putting Christian principles into practice. It measures the mission knowledge and application within specific context of Countryside YMCA in Lebanon, Ohio and also examines other research to assess if the results are reflective of the movement as a whole. The conclusion revels that Countryside YMCA has drifted from its mission. Many of these churches are in a declining status, often due to the removal of the historic gospel from the pulpits. It will take preaching the historic gospel of Jesus Christ from the pulpit once again to revitalize these churches. Towards that end, this project was undertaken to help cast a vision for revitalizing mainline churches and to encourage evangelical pastors to consider pursuing pulpits in mainline churches, to replant the gospel seed, and to revitalize these churches in order to reach communities for Christ. This thesis is targeted at church replanters and church replanter coaches. The project seeks to provide a theological framework on renewal as applied to mainline churches, address the practical aspects of equipping evangelical pastors to serve in mainline pulpits through a church replanter coaching curriculum, and to set this vision within a larger historical framework."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130688413499392,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:34.867Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:26:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"1f3aadfb-b5c0-4b0a-93c2-b23d09e25d26","accessControl_ssim":["d41db406-83ec-46ec-8cc8-a1b1ac7e3944"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Adapting the historical section of the Perspectives course into particular global contexts"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:44Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:03:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["cdddaa42-4715-4119-bd05-bb9cb99698cd"],"hasLease_ssim":["e827a31d-b822-4500-a274-ccf07cf58d5f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Peter Kuzmic"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Yvonne W Huneycutt"],"keyword_tesim":["Theology, Contextual"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church history--Study","Education--Curricula","Christianity and culture","Missions--Study and teaching","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis-project examines why and how the historical section of the mission mobilization course, Perspectives on the world Christian movement, should be adapted as the course is translated for international audiences. The situation is complicated as individuals come to know, through work or school, people who display homosexual behaviors. The struggle comes as the result of two conflicting ideas: the biblical teachings opposing homosexual activity and the relational experiences connecting people together. As a result, severe stress comes when a member of a traditional Christian family announces they are homosexual. This thesis seeks to demonstrate an approach to counseling families in distress that is both biblically sound and psychologically effective. The approach will be integrative, applying a theologically supported, structural relations oriented approach looking at the context of the family. It will also apply a psychoeducational approach to help the family reframe their situation from a biblical/theological perspective and an attachment theory approach in helping the family to balance their need for attachment and individuation."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131297120256000,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:45:15.375Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:44Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:34:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"43736144-c863-4588-9048-39a6c61ca711","accessControl_ssim":["7d7af539-b8b1-4126-83e6-5da5ddad2b0c"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Disciplemaking practices of small African-American churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T16:17:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:05:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5c3857b6-3d55-4d8b-b093-27182f3c313e"],"hasLease_ssim":["321334e2-9dfd-41b6-a9a6-2fa56bd049ee"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Steven W Klipowicz"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Herbert L Redrick"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Faith development","African American churches","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["'Disciplemaking practices of small African-American churches' is a descriptive study of disciplemaking practices in selected small African-American churches in the Logan Community in Concord, NC.
