God is at the center of Scripture and must be at the center of every sermon. God's Word is not to be preached in an anthropocentric manner that focuses primarily on biblical characters as examples. Theocentric preaching welcomes a Christocentric focus, since Christ's redemptive work is the crucial interpretive tool for understanding the intent of biblical authors. Observing the larger context helps a preacher avoid atomistic misinterpretations. The first three items were the most effective in fostering spiritual life on campus. However, most Korean Christians seem more interested in the actual practice of prayer than in the theological intricacies it may involve.  Chapter 1 describes the prayer habits of Korean Christians and gives a history of the prayer movements of the Korean Protestant Church from the awakening of 1907 to the present.  A field study conducted to gain knowledge of the present prayer life of Korean immigrant churches in Canada is analyzed in chapter 2.  Theological formulations for the practice of prayer in Christian life, Jesus' teaching and practice of prayer comprise chapter 3.  Chapter 4 suggests ways to help people pray more effectively by reviewing the most important characteristics of Christian prayer. While many of the existing models of intervention are useful and worthwhile, this thesis will suggest that certain key ingredients are sometimes avoided or neglected in an attempt to move quickly toward a satisfactory resolution of a problem. Effective problem solving, especially when dealing with a difficult person, cannot always be reduced to a simple step-by-step approach.  The purpose of this thesis will be to explore and present another option for dealing with the presence of a difficult person that is both biblical and practical. The developmental theories of E Erikson, J Fowler and H Straughn provide the framework for considering the development of an organic corporate entity such as a local congregation.  Reflecting on his experience as a church planter and his own maturation struggles, the writer develops the proposed paradigm.  Then, utilizing an open-ended narrative interview, the author presents case studies of three additional congregations to explore the applicability of his model. A personal health inventory (PHI) was developed to help alleviate irrational fears of AIDS for those whose lifestyle did not put them at risk of infection.  The inventory was also administered to six AIDS awareness seminars in American Baptist churches of Maine. Results indicated that a PHI could help alleviate a person's fear of infection if their lifestyle did not put them at risk as thirty-three out of sixty-five respondents indicated that the PHI helped alleviate their fear. Thus after exploring the Apostle Paul's model of worldview analysis and confrontation as recorded in Acts 17:16-34, the thesis examines the New Age movement and the factors leading people to embrace this worldview.  Then, following Paul's approach in Acts 17:16-34, the thesis applies a similar model of worldview confrontation to the New Age movement.
