They are owner- managers of their business, with the oldest being 63 years of age and the youngest 38. All interviewees were obtained through personal contacts, and the interviews conducted by the author personally. This is limited study that aims to identify the various characteristics of Chinese entrepreneurship, the influence of Confucianism on Chinese entrepreneurship and the reasons why these entrepreneurs started their businesses. This thesis examines the obvious pattern of God's redemptive history that unites both the Old Testament and the New Testament. After demonstrating the importance and value of metaphors, it presents the father metaphor as a valuable addition to current metaphorical language in use. Due to widespread difficulties with pastoral identity and cultural confusion about the role of biological fathers, this thesis sets forth a rediscovery of the term 'father' which can be applied to pastoral ministry in the twenty-first century. The purpose of this study is to reintroduce the figure of John Berridge to a contemporary readership. Second it will argue that it is John Berridge's appropriation of the post-Reformational experiential tradition with its re-discovery of justification by faith that is foundational to his conversion, surrounds his experience in the Cambridgeshire Revival, and sustains his ministry in Everton. A literature review explores contemporary theories of interpretation, Old Testament narrative art, and pericopal theology of Old Testament narratives. In this thesis, he outlines by biblical precept and example the structure and strategy for building a 'House of Prayer;' this became the foundation for building a mega-church of thousands in New England from a handful of faithful believers meeting in a downtown hotel functional meeting room. The structure of prayer agreement supported by godly character and accountability has created an 'open heaven' atmosphere in his local church empowering truth to penetrate and transform multitudes. Ten (10) friendship dyads of the same gender were interviewed utilizing 13 open-ended questions. An additional 215 single adults also participated in a 25-question survey. The heart of the project blends a number of research tools, including demographic research of the city of Campo Bom coupled with survey research and statistical analysis by means of questionnaires, interviews and participant observation with the goal of planting a church in the targeted community. This transformation can take place even though a person's background has been challenging. This work was born out of the writer's desire to meet the cry of the empty human heart. In this work the question of the church's role in spiritual formation will be examined and it will be evidenced that the church of today has come up short and must re-examine where they are in their own process of spiritual growth. The writer explores attitudes and mind sets that churches fall into that can inhibit parishioners in their journey toward transformation. The case studies in this work have been designed to be user-friendly with both individuals and groups.
