It was originally located in a predominantly African-American community to serve that growing population.  However, things have changed and now many of the original members and their families have moved away and the church has seen dramatic demographic changes to its surrounding community.  The original vision of having a warm and welcoming place to worship has long been accomplished, now it is time for the church to take a fresh look at its circumstances and seek a new vision for the future.  This project will seek to help the leaders of Zion Baptist Church discern a fresh vision for the church.  During the process the leadership team will be exposed to the realities of their original biblical purpose, current ministry context, and available resources. Although this undertaking concentrates on ministers in the Middle District Baptist Association, the author realizes the same challenges exist among untrained clergy elsewhere. Leading ministers to reach an informed understanding of text as they investigate selected text through questions pertaining to the literal, the historical, and the contextual analysis of a passage contribute to informed understanding. Through an exegetical guide developed as a result of this project, ministers learn to analyze scriptures in a meaningful way that better prepares the preaching of the Gospel. Primary research in this project proves that untrained clergy can benefit from preparation in authorial intent. The case study will focus on St. Paul's Community Church (Chicora, PA), and the disconnect between the church's missional focus vis-à-vis its representative denomination.  Using a narrative methodology, there will be a comparison of the experience of St. Paul's Community Church with St. Paul's Congregational Church (Rural Valley, PA), both of which have a shared historic affiliation with the United Church of Christ and ethnic, geographic, and sociological similarities. Together with a look at the local church's ecclesiological context, a biblical view of the Spirit's creative work in individual lives, and a historical view of conflict in St. Paul's Community Church, there will be a description of the forces that created an outcome that could only be created by the people and pastor working in a way that fit the context. Dr. John Sung spoke to the Chinese people in various meetings and many turned to the Lord. While preaching, Dr. Sung would often spontaneously interrupt the preaching to lead the congregation in hymnal choruses. The singing plus his message led many people to the Lord. In the 1990's, the Chinese churches in China increased rapidly and many people were spiritually revived and came to know the Lord. One of the reasons why the number of Christians has grown in China has been because of how God has used a young village girl, Xiao Min, to write hundreds of worship hymns by the moving of the Holy Spirit and many were moved by the hymnal singing. Particular activities characterize the faithful but the activities themselves are inadequate to define the faithful. It is faith, love, humility, and obedience from their hearts, which give vitality to the individuals and define true spirituality. This thesis pursues the relationship between love, faith, humility, and obedience. Then the exercise of these qualities in the outworking of theology through devotion to scriptures, fellowship, communion, and prayer is examined. The first section covers the geopolitical situation in the world and the human situation in the city, both of which indicate the need for ministry to world-class cities. The second section establishes the hermeneutical, theological, ecclesiological, missiological, and apologetical parameters within which this thesis project is written. The third section identifies the dilemma in the city, studies the various Christian responses to the city, and reviews evangelical ministry in Boston. The fourth section evaluates the church-planting ministry with which the writer of this thesis has been involved thus far. On the basis of the findings of these sections, a new ministry plan is presented, encompassing the planting of a model church and the establishment of local, regional, continental, and international networks.
