The Experimental group will attend the same sermon series, but additionally attend small group studies on the same ten traits, as well as be required to read the Book Becoming a Healthy Disciple. The goal of this thesis project was to explore the impact of the personal discipline of physical activity as a necessity in being a good steward of the body while being faithful to fulfill one's pastoral call. The problem is that clergy, in a sedentary occupation, can become physically unhealthy by engaging in meaningful ministry but neglecting to take care of themselves as they care for others. The scope of this work looks at the Apostle Paul's claim that there is value in being both physically and spiritually healthy. This work listens in on written conversations between professional and spiritually healthy. This work listens in on the written conversations between professional authorities as they consider how physical fitness benefits the spiritual life of clergy. This thesis-project was tested by a three month project where clergy engaged in physical exercise three days a week for thirty minutes and reflected on the impact on their spiritual lives. The author also observed the need of training of biographical preaching among Chinese pastors in Toronto through a survey he conducted. He also conducted a workshop under this project for some Chinese pastors in Toronto, helping his fellow pastors preach biographical sermons faithfully and effectively. Much damage is done to the cause of Christ by internal conflict over authority and submission issues, especially in the North American Protestant sending faith mission boards. This thesis seeks to lay out a beginning working biblical theology of followership. Its conclusion is that Christian believers are called more to followership than leadership and a proper understanding of submission and obedience can aid greatly in the worldwide spread of the gospel. The thesis argues that the development and implementation of a biblical theology of submission and obedience will result in healthier, more sustaining, and effective missionaries and ministries. To illustrate such a statement, it will look at the early Society of Jesus under St. Ignatius of Loyola and the Moravian Brethren at Herrnhut under Count Nicholas Ludwig von Zinzendorf. Each will be explored as to their history, missionary movement and effectiveness, early documents, and spiritual practices. This paper will examine the challenges the church currently faces in reaching out to Hindu background believers (HBBs) and suggest means through which the church can improve its efforts at evangelization, by taking greater note of the Hindu religious milieu and exercising greater cultural sensitivity. It will examine how the problem of differing social norms that have emerged between Hindus and Christians can be overcome and how certain tenets of Hinduism can be adopted as a way of accurately conveying the gospel while others will have to be revised or discarded for evangelism to be effective. The wider context of evangelism in Malabar is studied through a literature review, visits to the area and interviews with those who are in active ministry in Malabar. The author used a questionnaire to gain information from HBBs in Malabar.
