Thus there is need for a tool that will enable Christ-followers who are not occupational ministers to come to understand that they are, indeed, vocational ministers; that God has called each person to and gifted each person for a distinct ministry -- be it in the home or the local church or the marketplace or all the above. The secondary premise of this project is that leadership is, above all, influence. It is the ability to inspire and stimulate others to follow. With that in mind, it is incumbent upon all Christ-followers to 'lead' others to the Savior and to the truths of the Kingdom of God. Thus, the process-curriculum developed in this project will raise various issues of leadership that are essential for the Christ-follower to grapple with if he or she is going to make an impact for the cause of Christ in the marketplace. Of particular concern is the training of Christ-followers to think critically, both of the calling God has placed on their lives and how that must be fleshed out in the context of their day-to-day living. All too often, Christ-followers see their 'nine to five' either as a place simply to earn a paycheck or to achieve some degree of status and success, not a place wherein they experience the abundant life Jesus came to give us and lead others toward the same. The thesis begins with the assertion that the marketplace is primed for and, at least to some degree, receptive to spiritual things, and the Christ-follower must be prepared to 'make the most of every opportunity' (Eph. 5:16; Col. 4:5). To lay a foundation for this preparation, the thesis then goes on to present an overview of a theology of work and the misconceptions that many Christ-followers have of work and the workplace. By establishing that by and large Christendom has missed the message of the scriptures with regard to work, the need for distinctively Christian leadership in the marketplace will be recognized. Distinctively Christian leadership includes much of the current wisdom in the arena of leadership development, which will be reviewed, but it raises the bar to show that competencies are not the most important things. More important are the elements of calling and character. Thus, this project will explore the elements of calling and character for the distinctively Christian leader, making the case that calling connects a person's work to God's agenda and that character makes a difference in his/her effectiveness on the job as well as his/her attractiveness to and impact on others. The end goal of the project is to develop a process-curriculum that effectively mobilizes Christ-followers to make an impact for his kingdom in the most influential arena of our world -- the marketplace."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132999492829184,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:12:18.883Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:28:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:37:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"4e5506f1-144a-4a8e-851f-f6b840e42253","accessControl_ssim":["69524190-b392-48dd-b6f9-33fd83844fbb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Excellence in leadership: a training program for Latin American indigenous mission leaders"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:28:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:26:08Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["1c03050a-5ceb-4f46-8863-7b1487a5a0fc"],"hasLease_ssim":["89428d5f-8d9f-45a4-b8b0-d1d981069b37"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Kenneth L Swetland"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"location_tesim":["Latin America"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Edward T Bradley"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Christians","Missions"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This work focuses on the development of a leadership training program for directors of faith-based ministries in Latin America. The research focused on studying adolescent development, leadership, learning styles, and curricular design through analyzing four curricula currently in use with adolescents. The research was evaluative in nature. Data were collected through sixty-minute phone interviews and by developing an evaluative grid from literary research. The grid provided a consistent process to analyze the curricula. Leadership with adolescents is either strongly emphasized or ignored in the evangelical Christian church. Teens are seen as a resource and should be placed in positions to make an impact today, according to the collected data. A strong philosophical base of adolescent development theory, leadership theory, or learning styles theory did not exist in the models. All the approaches incorporated theoretical pieces within the areas of study. There was a lack of consideration for teen maturation needs when presenting the information. Social support was not integrated into the fiber of the programs. Learning styles were largely misunderstood."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130654354702336,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:35:02.386Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:28:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"23cf1952-8265-4b12-abd5-1983d75e4a21","accessControl_ssim":["76bb8d15-9d4c-40a6-9b08-e45be3e3ab17"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christian women making biblical and theological decisions"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:11:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6b5a9784-c604-480f-9c65-13c3ed2ab7c8"],"hasLease_ssim":["a0591461-03e6-4819-bc7e-8fa8d6a3ea65"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Alice P Mathews"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Natalie Ruth Eastman"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Critical thinking","Women in Christianity","Church work with women","Women","Evangelicalism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Conflicting voices in the contemporary conservative Christian church, as well as voices of both the near and distant historical past, profoundly -- and often negatively -- impact women and the church at large today. It is written out of these convictions: the church is called to equip its leadership; women need training specifically designed for them; and leadership skills can and should be taught to help the church fulfill its mandates. The thesis of this work is that short-term leadership training for women will increase their effectiveness and their sense of adequacy in leadership roles. This project provides a tested curriculum series of four parts to help the local church prepare women for spiritual leadership. It is designed so that each part may be taught separately or as a series in order to train women in specific skill areas for Bible study leadership or for administrative leadership, particularly in the context of a women's ministry. This material has been used at Northwest Bible Church in Dallas, Texas, where the writer is Minister to Women. However, it is designed for use in any local church to provide equipping for women as leaders, especially in the context of ministry to other women."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131089920589824,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:41:57.774Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:01:36Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"c3f84ce7-41fa-4e31-be41-d24ce161f82f","accessControl_ssim":["103b718b-e827-484b-a3c8-3daf9f2235bb"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Practical direction to help resolve the church's propensity toward dysfunctionality that exacerbates and contributes to the abuse of women in the home"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:45:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8298e019-2296-4777-860f-d355adfbb6a0"],"hasLease_ssim":["0d12192a-6ab6-415b-8584-314f28644324"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas Hall"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jean A Dimock"],"keyword_tesim":["Women (Theology)--Biblical teaching"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Women in Christianity","Church work with women","Abused women","Communities--Religious aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis is a systemic view of how some dysfunctions in the Christian church contribute to the abuse of women in the home, and how the Christian church is the best source for helping women be free of abuse in the church and in the home. Online renewal used Sabbath themes to provide web-based content. To facilitate accountability and chaplains' desire for fellowship a 'Sabbath friend' was created. The MBI Human Services Survey instrument determined the success of web-based renewal. Overall, MBI found chaplains decreased their feeling of burnout and increased their feelings of ministry accomplishment. The online Sabbath renewal project was a first step to provide Navy chaplains a viable opportunity to continue their spiritual vitality in arduous duty assignments around the world. The evaluation of the web design was a secondary goal. Using Likert scales, the evaluation measured technical aspects of web-based design such as cognitive load, aesthetics, and navigation. The online renewal site successfully helped chaplains with spiritual renewal/awareness that resulted in greater feelings of accomplishment in ministry. The results of this project also offered hope for the future application of web-based renewal for everyone in the helping profession. In the end, this project accomplished a new method for facilitating the ancient need for spiritual renewal."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131727115059200,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:52:05.450Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:51:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"932a67ea-0bbe-4a26-9921-1a4ec6eb2c8b","accessControl_ssim":["3c67244a-6694-4910-adf0-bc7c8593c559"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christocentric collaboration in prison ministry fosters exponential inmate transformation: test case of three Hartford churches"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:27:21Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:26:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ff71136d-3323-4732-b670-4120b314bb51"],"hasLease_ssim":["440e304b-6b37-4f35-a671-b0ca94340bc8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Douglas Hall","Alvin Padilla"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"location_tesim":["Connecticut--Hartford"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Geraldine S Sailor Fair"],"keyword_tesim":["Cooperative Church work"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with prisoners"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Various studies have been conducted investigating the manner in which prison ministries have been facilitated by individual churches. Such studies have revealed the difficulties that some churches experience especially in the areas of maintaining a strong budget to support the ministry, recruiting volunteers to staff, and stabilizing pastoral support for their existence. Individual church ministries are strongly committed to the existence of prison ministry at the theological, emotional, and spiritual levels. However, the financial, labor, and emotional support which is essential to undergird a prison ministry is more than many churches can manage without external support. The prison population that attends chapel services has increased exponentially, which substantiates the need for Christian volunteers to minister in the prisons. The primary premise is that if more spiritually mature Christians called by God to the prison ministry would volunteer to minister, it might maximize the number of inmates coming to faith. The impact of prisoners experiencing a spiritual transformation through salvation might increase the chance of their families' desire for their salvation to be realized. This thesis poses the question whether collaboration among a 'cluster' of churches is essential to develop an effective prison ministry. The study examines test cases from three churches in Hartford, Connecticut which have developed prison ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791131680840351744,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:51:21.319Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":766,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"Dissertation","hits":5,"label":"Dissertation"},{"value":"Thesis","hits":2,"label":"Thesis"},{"value":"D.Min.
