Prayer is both traditional and transformational, not offending the staunchest traditionalist or the most starry-eyed transformationalist.  It is perhaps the best natural construct for religious identity, understanding and development. From the viewpoint of change theology, all of these developments may be the manifestation of a natural process of aging.  What would happen if instead of resisting these changes, we processed them as stepping stones to a new spiritual maturity? Spiritual needs as declared by the very elderly are examined and discussed.  Material is drawn from pastoral involvement with two hundred-fifty parishioners all of whom are in the ninth and tenth decade of their pilgrimages.  The research method was active listening and observing, then recording parishioiners' subjective spiritual concerns.  Data was accumulated over ten years.
