She led a workshop to familiarize people with the civic, activist, sanctuary and evangelistic mission orientations suggested in Varieties of Religious Presence, by Roozen, McKinney, Jackson Carroll. She was guided in self-reflection by Donald Schon's The Reflective Practicioner.  The social action committees of both congregations became more integrated into the life of the churches.  The urban church expanded its corporate involvement, but not the suburban congregation. The primary resource and vehicle for evaluating the current status of chaplaincy in Connecticut's public institutions and making recommendations was an interfaith task force sponsored by the Christian Conference of Connecticut. The author facilitated a university tutorial by which he and students confronted the homeless problem in Connecticut through individuals directly affected by and involved with it.  By confronting their fears and prejudices toward homeless people and discovering the similarities they shared, students were able to explore ways they and the church may overcome social barriers to become effective tools of change. Second, it describes an eighteen-month spiritual journey with eight lay women and men.  The discipline itself consists of three movements: centering, empowering, and serving.  A series of questionnaires was used to evaluate whether their commitment to ministry and mission deepened.
