The project compares the experience of interim time between five small churches that chose an 'intentional' interim and five small churches that chose to have a traditional 'Sunday supply.' This project examines a successful chaplaincy training program at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which educated 40 community volunteers in a 12-week course over a three-year period. These trained volunteers enabled the hospital to continue providing 24-hour pastoral care. African American young adults are looking to the church to be the institution which will give them a way to obtain faith, understand Scripture and discover their heritage.  This topic concentrates on young adults between the ages of 25 and 45.
