Double binds occur when one is internally conflicted and not able to turn any direction without negative consequences.  For episcope' one double bind is absence of a shared authority.  Another is the presence of a divided constituency.  The third is the absence of a sense of God or the holy purpose for the work. The retreat would teach the mission team members about Waterbury and orient them for the upcoming week of day camp.  As a result of the project the Waterbury Baptist Ministries church members' self esteem increased and their level of hopelessness decreased, thus finding their place of service in the church. Furthermore, the number of descendants of early Chinese immigrants has markedly increased. This paper summarizes the history of these Chinese people and their struggles as immigrants because of differences in background and culture.  It also examines the history of the Chinese Christian Churches in the United States, the challenges that they faced, the lessons to be learned from these challenges. The use of the liturgical year as the operative framework allowed new members to be introduced to the basic worship life of the church.  The Revised Common Lectionary provided a biblical foundation which was compared and contrasted with Congregational principles as described in Arthur Rouner's The Congregational way of life. The project had four components.  First, the author used the marketing tools of surveys and focus groups to listen to the boomers.  Second, she created a three-tiered educational structure.  Track 1 included lectures on the Bible and ethics. Track 2 employed book studies to develop a spiritual language.  Track 3 focused on prayer techniques.  Third, the courses were designed using professional teaching models.  Lastly, the author evaluated the structure via surveys and interviews.
