The church is called to communicate God's love and acceptance through ministries of hospitality and welcoming, providing a church-home environment, information-sharing processes, and interpersonal relationship opportunities that will be perceived by strangers as inclusive, inviting, and sincere. Size is not the issue in this mission, although many congregations use size as an excuse. Included are my own personal experiences in the parish ministry dealing with inactivity within the congregation. This project documents the need for an intentional process of integration.  The author contends that a change occurs both in the new member and the congregation, and the congregation must be sensitive to those changes.  He proposes a model for integration and a tool for evaluation to help the maturing congregation remain sensitive.
