The project engages groups of church members in actual sermon preparation and response in relation to biblical texts over a period of three years. The entire congregation enters the dialogue as God moves and changes them through the sermons they hear. Preachers can indeed better themselves by forming a partnership with listeners in sermon preparation that creates clear connections between pew and pulpit."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134068715290624,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:29:18.574Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:31:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:23:57Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a07dc893-4507-456e-bff7-2eaebd878247","accessControl_ssim":["0cd566d1-df9e-4a8b-9573-c76da9966f3d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["How preaching converts: the role of sermons in the lives of the secular agnostic, the recently returned, and the theologically astute"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T06:31:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:48:40Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["72c8dfef-e7ce-4a98-b0b4-35f942195288"],"hasLease_ssim":["c756c53d-3100-4b6b-80f4-5c4abc98d6ca"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["David L Lindberg"],"year_tesim":["1998"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Frank G Honeycutt"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Religious pluralism","Spiritual formation","Preaching--Study and teaching","Conversion","Listening"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project explores the role of preaching in the ongoing conversion and spiritual formation of adults within a liturgical context, examining how three distinct groups hear and respond to preaching offered through the church year cycle.
