But the Central Kerala Diocese (the author's own diocese) has not yet ordained women. In this study the author argues that there are biblical bases for the equality of men and women and theological bases for the ordination of women. God created male and female in God's own image and they are made to be equal partners in caring for the creation as God's representatives (Gen 1:26-27). Jesus Christ, who treated women and men as equals, stands independent of culture in relation to women. Woman is heir to the same salvation with man: together they are joint heirs of the grace of life (1 Peter 3:7). In the early church women exercised roles and functions which were later associated with priestly ministry. The author argues that there are practical reasons for ordaining women in the Central Kerala Diocese of the Church of South India. In this diocese the full-time women workers, Sisters of the Church, and pastors' wives are doing pastoral work. The diocese whole-heartedly accepts their work. Therefore, the argument is women should be included in ordained ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133289269952512,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:16:55.237Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:01:51Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:18:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"35f27ea9-7123-4fb2-a32a-0e22ba563092","accessControl_ssim":["0c1704bb-1f16-4fe1-b45b-d068b6c3ae93"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Holy communion extended into the home as a means for reconciliation and renewal"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:01:50Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:41:26Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["8e8eb6b9-2e73-4fac-a778-e3820389bb64"],"hasLease_ssim":["0b4465df-9b73-47cf-8f36-d88a1583c250"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Mark P Bangert"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Paul H Dorn"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Church work with families","Family life education--Religious aspects--Christianity","Liturgics","Reconciliation","Lord's Supper"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project suggests that Holy Communion can be used as a means for reconciliation and renewal within Christian families by extending Holy Communion, which the family celebrates with the congregation, into the home. An examination of present trends shows that a revised theology of sponsorship in baptism and a renewal of sacramental practice is needed. To facilitate the meeting of these needs a comprehensive program for baptismal education of sponsors (including godparents, parents, adult friends of adult candidates, and the congregation) is proposed. A plan for the enrichment of the baptismal liturgy also is included."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133250101444608,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:16:17.883Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:01:23Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:21:43Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"699d7e06-4d48-49f7-84a8-3ab269897027","accessControl_ssim":["b130a775-8992-4051-866d-79f6c1f44acf"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral care for a church in mission"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:01:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:13:21Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4654b3ac-7f9f-4eeb-a3a9-d2e99e056150"],"hasLease_ssim":["18fb85bf-622d-4976-96ce-3829589586c2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Jay C Rochelle"],"year_tesim":["1988"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Dennis R Nelson"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Mission of the church","Evangelistic work","People of God","Pastoral theology","Justice"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The essential purpose of pastoral care-giving reaches beyond comfort to challenge and commission the whole people of God to be full participants in the redemptive purpose of God made explicit in Jesus.
