Authority is traditionally understood as legitimated power. Authority like other forms of power can be corrupted. Authority as domination needs to be examined in the preaching situation also. The preachers' authority is a crucial problem in contemporary society and therefore new understandings of authority emerge. The authors' questions are: how can the preacher share the experience of God and life with the community through preaching? With different groups in the community can the preacher be an authority, but not the only one? Authority in diversity and partnership is a challenge for preaching in the future."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133228973686784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:15:57.734Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:20:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:21:22Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"66648cfc-98d6-4e9d-bbf2-188f124d181e","accessControl_ssim":["1131f344-949d-4b2e-ae69-a8caa99b7c61"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching to all generations through celebrative design"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:20:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:07:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["55625e76-06f8-44ef-bc3d-154911581b0f"],"hasLease_ssim":["6da17723-2cad-4b09-a444-68ef1e52e8b1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Elaine Siemsen"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jean A Ziettlow"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Lutheran preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper presents the theoretical and theological design of celebrative preaching and follows a three-year Parish Preaching Project. The intent of this thesis is to explore the literature of one type of leadership known as transformational leadership, by reviewing publications from both the secular and the Christian church cultures. It becomes obvious that in order to address transformation, one must also address the changing of one's culture in making disciples for Jesus Christ. The Bible is filled with transformational leaders. The pastor is a celebrant, not only at the altar, but also as a preacher. In Sweden today, there is a disbelief in preaching because of its traditionally explanatory and authoritarian nature. At the same time, there is a longing for the words that identify the experiences of life. Through this interpretation of Lutheran preaching, contemporary hermeneutical research, contemporary discussions of authority, and influence from the African-American preaching tradition, the author shows how preaching can answer this longing. The research discloses that preaching is more closely related to the altar than the teacher's desk."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133451736317952,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:19:30.177Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:57:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:22:31Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7b619b77-c90c-4342-9c12-9f78aee5e9ec","accessControl_ssim":["eaa3526f-32c4-4c14-ad80-38bf489eeb92"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Looking for satisfaction: an enhanced relationship with God, through prayer and meditation, can increase our joy and directly affect our preaching"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:57:39Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:45:56Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["d88723f2-2bd3-41e0-b79d-71d45bad99fa"],"hasLease_ssim":["edc4d75c-fef2-440a-ae2b-b2e72ba36c5b"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Elaine Siemsen"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Fredi P Eckhardt"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Clergy--Religious life","Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556","Preaching"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project proposes that, as preachers and individuals that are often dissatisfied, we are in need of a closer relationship with God.
