The theological principle will suggest that the congregation needs to move away from viewing itself as the family of God or a fellowship, to an understanding of itself as the people of God.  Research will explain the difference between: the concept of a neighborhood church and that of a metropolitan church; new developing neighborhoods and stable communities; and small churches and large churches. Developing the concept of community as an expansion of the existing family identity, was implemented in a combined sermon series and initiation of groups focusing on outreach, mutual support, and reflection on faith. The study includes research on issues of faith development in young adults, an exploration of the concept and terms related to pilgrimage, and practical issues in ministry to young adults.
