The thesis emphasizes the necessity of trained ministers to do pastoral work among the Assemblies churches of the Puerto Rico District. The author used questionnaires interviews and group work. Revitalization of an intern full time study program was the strategy selected. In cases where the strategy did not work out favorably, other alternatives were structured. Standard church renewal efforts have not moved the congregation from a numerical and financial plateau.  This study describes how standard Presbyterian polity processes failed to provide for an open and honest dialogue with the congregation which can develop shared vision.  This study describes how the processes of self-assessment and education worked to produce shared vision.
