The challenge facing the interim pastor is that of nurturing the emergence of that new identity and fostering unity among the people. This needs to take place because St Andrew's is called to be the body of Christ, shaped by the institution, and expressed through community. The church needs to move beyond reverence for the old church covenants to participation in the new covenant of the merged congregation. The most important conclusion reached in this formation takes place naturally through stages over a period of time, namely, that unity is both the community's struggle for identity and the institution's product of goal achievement. The interim pastor as forerunner to the permanent pastor is to be a catalyst and facilitate the process of developing church identity and establishing congregational unity for the future of the Christian body and its promised leader."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7eda0323-a6d9-4fe2-807a-22620dd389a5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128735000297472,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:04:31.947Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:14:37Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:04:32Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ceabf163-ed17-48bc-bc41-87437063c18f","accessControl_ssim":["a81a4b53-3acf-478b-8f8f-d583ce047e5a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Diverse forms of leadership"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:14:36Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:03:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["65892086-a1e7-463d-9696-a66848e9331b"],"hasLease_ssim":["c1f17d3f-cb89-4f64-98c7-6a23981777fd"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Laurence L Welborn"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Thor E Bogren"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis addresses pastoral and lay leadership. This thesis explores biblical, historical and social contexts to show how a meaningful confirmation program endeavors to proclaim Christ to new and succeeding generations. Its purpose is to challenge church adults to understand their role in the discipleship of their children. The thesis project shows how a particular congregation studied the issues involved and developed an organizational strategy by which a more meaningful program could be instituted in the life of its church. This is not only a research project; it is the story of a people who searched for a new understanding, struggled with the issues, and dared change a tradition which was no longer serving the needs of their youth. The leaders experienced and learned to lead a process which included assessing their church's uniqueness; discerning God's call to them; choosing the best place to begin. Each church has begun an on-going process by which the energy of members can be mobilized and focused. Results also include inter-church support and cooperative ministries."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["7eda0323-a6d9-4fe2-807a-22620dd389a5"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128351582191616,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:58:26.291Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:27:50Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:59:08Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7ee50136-99dd-4d18-8536-867526a4e661","accessControl_ssim":["41a67716-d3d4-4c26-80d4-1bb8384be77a"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Reintegrating Christian initiation in a community of the baptized"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:27:49Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:52:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["97f6dd45-0675-4d8c-bdac-a1b3be625c0e"],"hasLease_ssim":["722d8afa-fca0-44e8-a317-5a0459b80420"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John E Burkhart"],"year_tesim":["1989"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Randall L Hilscher"],"publisher_tesim":["McCormick Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Baptism","Initiation rites--Christianity"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This thesis asserts that the church, the community of the baptized, is enlived and renewed through integrated Christian initiation, a unified complex including baptism, confirmation, and eucharist. A vision is an inspired view of how life might be that captures one's imagination and stimultates the necessary drive and energy for fulfillment.
