The project conducts three weekly workshops totaling 11 hours, addressing problems of ADD from childhood to adulthood, and using videos, lectures, tests, overheads, discussions, and reading assignments.  Two of the three goals are achieved. The project conducted three seminars for church leaders concerning child abuse and its effects, self-esteem among black males, and substance abuse. These mentors were paired with seven first offenders referred by the juvenile court. A selected group of parents and teenagers participated in an eight-week project involving listening, talking, decision making, and conflict resolution. Willingness of parents to make a change in the way they approached communication relieves some of the anxiety that accompanies many types of parent-teen innteractions.  Among the elements of improved communication are time involvement, genuineness, and unconditional love. Responsive residents were surveyed, results were prioritized, and elements of the pastoral care program were modified.  A variety of worship traditions were incorporated in the interdenominational worship service for 60 participating residents and family members.  Some wanted formal Bible study, while others asked for a focused prayer meeting. In a church that had no active men's group and lacked involvement of men in important leadership responsibilities, this project seeks to demonstrate that men, if shown a biblical rationale, can be taught and led to change thinking and behavior.  The project conducted a nine-hour teaching experiment during a weekend, using a control group of 25 men and women and an experimental group of 12 men. The retreat teaching exercise produced significant changes in both thinking and behavior of the 12 men of the experimental group.  Pre-test/post-test documents, when analyzed, offer evidence of these gains in understanding. As a direct result of the experiment, a men's group was formed.
