Eleven study participants photographed common parish events to communicate self-selected themes.  These elements were grounded in everyday life, conveying the integration of traditional Anglican values with challenges of multicultural life in a northwest Detroit neighborhood.  Through discussion and group process, a congregational mission statement evolved as 'Christian community spreading out into secular community.' In addition this theology is a new movement which grows out of a specific Latin American context. The study combines insights from political theology and political systems theory and establishes through questionnaire method that the missionaries are ambivalent about the use of violence as an instrument of change in the social process. This study examines the thesis that a theology of the cross, issuing in realistic, non-violent strategies, provides the most appropriate basis for a ministry committed to peacemaking.  Critical factors that need to inform and guide the theology and praxis of any peacemaking ministry are considered.  The thesis is tested in dialogue with significant sources, with persons exposed to the project, and through use of a questionnaire-survey instrument. Five workshops, with continual evaluation and reflection, were conducted in three settings: in a cluster of churches, in a continuing education course for ministers involving theological reflection, and in one local church.  There was steady growth in understanding by facilitator and participants.
