Biblical references for giving are considered in context and for application in a postmodern world. Stewardship's development is traced to its formation at the height of 'modern' confidence in humanity's ability to master money and economic systems. This confidence is contrasted with Jacques Ellul's analysis of money's ability to control human lives and divert them from God's purposes. A stewardship campaign that is based on postmodern principles is descibed, and its effectiveness evaluated. This study concludes with a biblical and postmodern view of stewardship for transfoming both giving and giver."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130312329134080,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:29:36.205Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:39:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:38:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"7c627881-0bd7-44c0-97a6-edcdc6a67897","accessControl_ssim":["d6bba45d-1cee-4580-99f2-5738db4b85d8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Towards the liberation of the affluent: a curricular model for a suburban congregation"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T22:39:40Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:48:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["6b7d0bc2-a55f-4047-aa05-bcea5d5d2ab7"],"hasLease_ssim":["dd8d1afb-1b58-4bd5-9283-6bc0723b56f3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["J Deotis Roberts"],"year_tesim":["1985"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David G High"],"publisher_tesim":["Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Liberation theology","Segundo, Juan Luis, 1925-1996","Psychological tests","Economics--Religious aspects--Christianity","Christian education"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project develops a curricular model for introducing liberation theology concepts to affluent Christians. The methods used were sociologically framed and praxis based. They were informed by qualitative research (grounded theory) and colored by the author's own poetic, intuitive learning. The results of the project were: the founding of an international solidarity commission with sugar workers at a conference involving 40 participants from over 20 countries; the uncovering of a ministry of defending the workers; and the articulation of a new way of ministering."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129044553564160,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:09:27.159Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Resource Type"},{"name":"creator_sim","items":[{"value":"David G High","hits":1,"label":"David G High"},{"value":"Don W Dietrich","hits":1,"label":"Don W Dietrich"},{"value":"Michael P Branscombe","hits":1,"label":"Michael P Branscombe"}],"label":"Creator Sim"},{"name":"contributor_sim","items":[],"label":"Contributor"},{"name":"keyword_sim","items":[{"value":"Clergy--Office--Emerging forms","hits":1,"label":"Clergy--Office--Emerging forms"}],"label":"Keyword"},{"name":"subject_sim","items":[{"value":"Economics--Religious aspects--Christianity","hits":3,"label":"Economics--Religious aspects--Christianity"},{"value":"Christian education","hits":1,"label":"Christian education"},{"value":"Christian stewardship","hits":1,"label":"Christian stewardship"},{"value":"Clergy--Office","hits":1,"label":"Clergy--Office"},{"value":"Education--Curricula","hits":1,"label":"Education--Curricula"},{"value":"Labor--Religious aspects","hits":1,"label":"Labor--Religious aspects"}],"label":"Subject"},{"name":"location_sim","items":[],"label":"Location"},{"name":"language_sim","items":[{"value":"English","hits":3,"label":"English"}],"label":"Language"},{"name":"publisher_sim","items":[{"value":"Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Toronto School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Toronto School of Theology"},{"value":"Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry","hits":1,"label":"Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry"}],"label":"Publisher"},{"name":"date_created_sim","items":[],"label":"Date Created"},{"name":"types_sim","items":[{"value":"Text","hits":3,"label":"Text"}],"label":"Type"},{"name":"year_sim","items":[{"value":"1985","hits":2,"label":"1985"},{"value":"2008","hits":1,"label":"2008"}],"label":"Year"},{"name":"format_sim","items":[],"label":"Format"},{"name":"member_of_collections_ssim","items":[{"value":"Miscellaneous","hits":3,"label":"Miscellaneous"}],"label":"Collections"},{"name":"degree_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":3,"label":"Unknown"}],"label":"Degree"},{"name":"discipline_sim","items":[],"label":"Discipline"},{"name":"degree_granting_institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary","hits":1,"label":"Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary"},{"value":"Toronto School of Theology","hits":1,"label":"Toronto School of Theology"},{"value":"Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)","hits":1,"label":"Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"}],"label":"Degree Granting Institution"},{"name":"department_sim","items":[],"label":"Department"},{"name":"funder_name_sim","items":[],"label":"Funder Name"},{"name":"event_title_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Title"},{"name":"event_date_sim","items":[],"label":"Event Date"},{"name":"institution_sim","items":[{"value":"Atla RIM","hits":3,"label":"Atla RIM"}],"label":"Host Institution"}],"pages":{"current_page":1,"next_page":null,"prev_page":null,"total_pages":1,"limit_value":10,"offset_value":0,"total_count":3,"first_page?":true,"last_page?":true}}}
