The drop produces progressive distancing from the rootedness of Christianity, a propensity to become secularized, and the loss of relationships that formed these youth as children. This paper studies whether there is a connection between the way churches understand and prepare for Confirmation and possible reduction in attendance after it. This thesis suggests several approaches to equipping and empowering young adults to have confidence in their own faith narratives, and then to share those stories with others. The thesis project revealed an improved level of parental comfort having had the opportunity o reflect and reclaim their faith development. A questionnaire was submitted to the leadership of the diocese, consisting of the Bishop, Canon to the Ordinary, and the members of the Standing Committee.  Women's ordination to the priesthood and acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, together with threats to make the diocese conform, were the most crucial factors. Benedictine values of stability, obedience and conversion are interpreted for a church community. The context is a small suburban Episcopal church beginning a new ministry with their recently arrived priest. In various group feedback sessions, listeners expressed their understanding of how Benedictine values can shape the spiritual life of the church community and become part of its vision. Eleven study participants photographed common parish events to communicate self-selected themes.  These elements were grounded in everyday life, conveying the integration of traditional Anglican values with challenges of multicultural life in a northwest Detroit neighborhood.  Through discussion and group process, a congregational mission statement evolved as 'Christian community spreading out into secular community.' The biblical and theological dimensions are first investigated.  Experiential data are then drawn from Appreciative Inquiry interviews of fifteen Episcopal clergy regarding events in their ministries which have brought them significant joy.  Extensive discussion of the philosophical and theological dimensions of Appreciative Inquiry, an experientially based organizational development tool, is included. Churches need to prepare couples and support them in such
