It is my intent through this program, Pet \u0026 Pray: The Transforming Power of Communion and Grace Through God's Beloved Creatures, by way of surveys, group social gatherings, prayer, sharing, instruction, catechesis, social science data, and theological reflection to bring about in each participant a measurably deeper awareness of God's grace present and working inter-connectedly through his creatures. Furthermore, Jesus, as epitomizing this symbol, demonstrates that the most significant characteristic of the heart is its vulnerableness to the love of God.  Therefore, a secondary premise of this thesis is that human vulnerability, as a posture of faith, is essential to human self-fulfillment. Being penetrated is not necessarily a contradiction to be avoided but can lead to opportunities for human growth and entrance intod the Kingdom of God. In line with this premise, Jesus has been interpreted (functionally) as the Mediator who reveals the Fatherhood of God as grace and compassion on the one hand and, on the other, that the true posture of faith is seen as a vulnerable heart.
