It investigates the historical background of worship, the use of pericopes, and explores the Christian calendar as a basis for text selection and preaching built upon the doctrines of Christian faith.  A survey was conducted to reveal how texts were selected, strengths and weaknesses of text selection, use of Christian calendar, and reaction to assigned texts. Pastoral interviews and congregational focus groups supplied data about how this service functions within a particular local church setting in which multiple worship services are offered to congregations.
