In the ecumenical curriculum that is developed, biblical theology sets the norms for pastoral identities, but these are understood to be in dialogue with psychology and contemporary pastoral theology.  The skill training included is in the context of seeking growth in the ability to claim deepened identity understandings in clinical encounter. Research has shown that older adults are helped by someone who asks questions about the past.  Loneliness and depression are common symptoms of older adults.  Without a feeling that life has had meaning in the past it is easy to lose identity and integrity.  Life review helps maintain a person's integrity, identity, and self-worth.  It provides a legacy to the younger generation.  It can help a person cope with loss, grief, and depression.
