This research is to find out factors that enable the leaders to effectively equip their youths. This study employs descriptive research methodology and concentrates in three research questions: What are the characteristics of the effective leaders? What are the practices of the effective leaders? What makes effective leadership teams? The findings rest on interviews with leaders of five effective Chinese churches of NYC (BCCC, FaBC, FiBC, NYCAC, and OCM), InterVarsity, and Seekers. This fact of multi-ethnicity in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney has led to the planting of ethnic-specific congregations based on McGavran's Homogeneous Unit Principle. The central thesis of this paper is that a vision and ministry, no matter how impressive, cannot belong to one leader but must be embodied in the community through its leadership. Grounded in the theology of Howard Thurman, it calls attention to the pervasive injustices of living in a society of white privilege, racial prejudice, segregation, and discrimination, and to our blindness as members of Christian congregations within this society. It identifies a resistance of the soul and psyche of individuals and society as the 'will to segregate' and argues the need for conversion to the 'will to unite' in order to develop discipleship capable of developing and sustaining multiracial congregations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716583725072384,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:04:42.708Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:20:49Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:27:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"da3583bf-fede-42ad-9baf-f23a5523a3dd","accessControl_ssim":["de094346-533a-4e2e-8594-8a6140d01348"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Research in ministry: a plan for strengthening the black United Methodist churches in western North Carolina"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T11:20:48Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:22:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["50cb249c-e542-47f2-920d-cdb51ff1477d"],"hasLease_ssim":["34506217-b0ee-4bfd-b40b-0e8c039e2624"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Donald Haynes"],"year_tesim":["2007"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Henry D FitzJeffries"],"publisher_tesim":["Hood Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["African American Methodists","Race relations","African American churches","Methodist Church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This research project analyzed the historical impact of race as causal factor in the negative growth in the African American United Methodist Church in the Western North Carolina Conference (WNCC).
