This often produces frustration and difficulties in families, churches, and communities. The project is an attempt to help participants determine their core faith and resultant beliefs to foster faith development. The intended result is to create attitudes free from fear and condescension. The approach is an integration of scripture, self-esteem, and United Methodist doctrine in a series of sessions that include lecture and discussion. The project did not produce results outside standard deviation. Incorporating some components of wilderness therapy into a pastoral care setting should help to offer a more integrated and wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling.  The project describes a feminist understanding of sin, the sin of hiding or self-negation, and offers some suggestions about how wilderness adventure therapy might be incorporated into a more wholistic model of pastoral care and counseling. There were 29 adult subjects (23 males and 6 females) from two treatment groups.  Subjects were given the Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) as soon after beginning treatment as possible, and mailed the TSCS for retesting 60 days after treatment. Eleven male and four female subjects completed the test/retest. A model--the scriptural self-analysis--was used to change thought and emotional patterns in a thirty-day program. The theologies of womanhood in evangelical traditionalists, revelationists and modern feminism were taught in eight sessions.  The Tennessee Self-Concept Scale was the instrument of measurement for results. The program consisted of eight two-hour sessions, meeting one evening each week.  The author believed that by exposing women to women in the Scriptures through the lens of the work of women scholars, the women's self-esteem would be enhanced. The Hudson Index of Self-Esteem was the measure of the women's esteem.  A baseline test was given followed by the test taken at the end of each session. This exploratory research was conducted to investigate the relationship between self-esteem, socioeconomic attainment and God-concept among African-American Baptists in East Baltimore.  Self-esteem was not shown to have a statistically significant impact on overall socioeconomic attainment. The hypothesis of the research project was that if a church offers a biblically balanced and sound course of training for its parents who have preadolescent children, there will be an observable increase in the self-esteem scores of the children whose parents undergo training.  The author conducted pre-test and post-test measurements of the self-esteem of preadolescednts whose parents were trained.  He compared these scores with the scores of a control group whose parents received no training.
