Foundations of this study come from research in developmental theory, biological development and faith development.  Project areas are: God's gift of sexuality, the human body, sexually transmitted disease, self-esteem, peer-pressure, concepts of love and decision-making. Part I compares the Heidelberg Catechism with the Augsburg Confession and the Westminster Confession, thereby pointing out Heidelberg's unique qualities as a teaching tool among young people. Part II highlights the biological and psychological aspects of the sex education program that was carried on among the high school young people at the First Reformed Church of Alexander, Iowa.  Part III discusses the Heidelberg Catechism and shows how its theological concepts can be applied specifically to the issues of human sexuality.  An evaluation based on a questionnaire distributed to the students completes the thesis.
