However as fewer families regularly cook and eat together, this vital link between the feast around the kitchen table and the Eucharistic banquet has been weakened. Using a small group format, this parish-based project provides an antidote for this troubling situation through a program to highlight the spiritual potency of preparing meals and dining in common. The themes of love, brokenness, and healing are explored using theological and psychological perspectives of human development.  It is essential to view a human being as a multidimensional whole. The program design focuses on pastoral care/counseling with the church as a center for working out increasing levels of health and well-being. The unconscious aspect of personality is referred to by Carl Jung as the tertiary function.  The vulnerability of the Auxiliary Reserve contributes to the development of spirituality by reminding the psyche of its incomplete nature while counteracting the level of the psyche's conscious activity.
