The four-week curriculum was based on the four functions of Pastoral Care which are healing, guiding, sustaining, and reconciliation.  The project utilized a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods to analyze the results. In its first phase the project enables a congregation to establish a recovery group home for substance abusers with government assistance. In its second phase the project develops a study guide to encourage biblical and spiritual growth among substance abusers. There were 29 adult subjects (23 males and 6 females) from two treatment groups.  Subjects were given the Tennessee Self Concept Scale (TSCS) as soon after beginning treatment as possible, and mailed the TSCS for retesting 60 days after treatment. Eleven male and four female subjects completed the test/retest.
