The hypothesis stated that such materials would motivate families to conduct Bible studies with their children.  A parent evaluation of the project and a Bible test for children did not validate the hypothesis, but they did indicate that parents would welcome help in teaching the Bible at home. A two-hour seminar over the manual was held with 113 Christians who wanted to win Mormons.  After a three-month period, the results were collected.  This took place in Santiago, Chile.  Of 55 non-missionary Mormons witnessed to, 24 left Mormonism, 14 were converted and 5 actually joined the Christian workers' churches. One hundred nineteen medium-size congregations of the Oklahoma District Council of the Assemblies of God were studied with concentration given to the auxiliaries reported by those congregations.  The hypothesis was based upon the concept of a unified mission.  Implementation was guided by the belief that multiple functioning and giving auxiliaries affected positively world ministries giving.  The project failed to establish such a positive relationship due to disparities even among churches reporting the same number of auxiliaries. Twenty-eight members attended the two-day training session. The result was that participants recognized the need and committed to more personal involvement in ministry. Two sample small groups were used for the ten-week project: a pilot group and a parallel group.  The pilot group consisted of seven members who were secured through private invitation. The parallel group's involvement was limited to taking the same pretest and posttest as the pilot group. The plan included: identifying personal problems among attenders through an initial churchwide survey; addressing the problems in six sermons; evaluating the success of the attempt to address the problems by means of a weekly written survey, a sermon discussion group, and a second churchwide survey.  A slight improvement in addressing problems through sermons was made. More improvement was noted in relevance than in effectiveness. The dissertation offers a model for motivating improvement based on the identification of three types of need: felt, real and educational.  Members of four churches from different denominations rated topics and took a 50-item test on Bible, doctrine, missions, and ethics prepared with the help of a modified Delphi technique.  Significant needs were exposed.  Real need was not always matched by a felt need, casting doubt on its motivating power.
