The nine subjects selected were currently involved in a methadone treatment program.  The subjects were divided into three groups: experimental, control and untreated control.  With the experimental group, the stimulus was spirituality. Methadone and spiritual education were combined to determine if the stimulus was helpful to the patient.  The control group was exposed to the methadone and drug education.  The untreated control group was exposed only to its current methadone treatment and basic social training education. The thesis follows the journey of a new church development congregation through the eyes of their former minister.  The research data was collected in three ways: questionnaire; interviews done by an objective interviewer; and personal recollections by the author.  This information was shared in the context of contemporary literature and theological reflection. The Dalit are a typical example of the unique system of oppression in India in which socio-culturally ordained fixed groups have collectively remained in a deprived position for ages.  The Dalit movement corrects the tendencies to generalize or objectify the oppressed or poor and reveals the concrete subjectivity of the diverse sections of the oppressed, their experiences, histories and aspirations. Adventist theology (evangelism) has failed to take account of the suffering and hopes of Dalits, who form the majority of Indian Christians.  Its approach of primarily responding to the health and educational needs has not helped the Dalit aspiration in Tamil Nadu, India. It will determine the independent variables and dependent variable that affect female pastors' quality of involvement in the churches. The findings in this study will enable female pastors in the Baptist church to utilize the information gained to eradicate barriers within the faith community and thereby make gains numerically and effectively. Chapter 1 explores theological and historical data on women pastors in the Methodist and Baptist traditions.  This includes the analysis of varied traditions of women as pastors with insight into the struggles that have broken through identified barriers.  The second chapter reviews the literature around women in minority in the African-American Methodist and Baptist churches. The third chapter discusses the historical framework of the Black church and the struggles of Black women preachers.  The fourth and fifth chapters explain and present surveys and discuss the data. A volunteer group of persons from a local African-American church was tested, before a Bible study was taught, to determine existing attitudes toward leadership roles of women in the church and/or society. They were taught eight consecutive Bible lessons concerning female leadership patterns especially as depicted in the New Testament churches.  Then, they were tested again to measure the change in attitude from pre-study to post-study. The results were then analyzed both by hand and by computer. The thesis was proven true, or verified. The historical survey method was used.  Churches met the needs of people through ministries for youth and adults.  Community outreach programs responded to identified needs.  Strong fellowship and love for one another were practiced.  Effective marketing techniques were used to advertise the churches. Pastors possessed a pioneering spirit.  Bible study was used to train lay persons.  A systematic, well-planned process for church planting and church growth should be used. These features were examined for implication for developing a model for an effective Africentric theological institute for youth.  Theoretical and methodological triangulation were used; data were derived from the stakeholders' meetings and the youth's quantitative and qualitative appraisal of the prototype institute.  The results identified seventeen salient features categorized as follows: input from stakeholders, recruitment and organizational processes and content. This bibliographic study examines the history, beliefs, and practices of fifteen important new sects with special emphasis on their worldview within the historical context of Japanese religions.  It is the author's thesis that although the new religions appear modern in form, they remain essentially animistic. Some of those who left the church for other churches were interviewed, as were the backsliders and regular attenders. The results indicated that something was lacking in the church.
