A review of recent literature reveals the evaluation of the Prayer Summit movement, city-wide crusades and other efforts to come together.  The acceptance of diversity and its relation to changes in our society is also discussed. Several key passages in the Bible are examined to determine the key principles for unity to occur among believers and the place diversity has in that experience.  A survey was conducted of pastors in the writer's local community to identify the current perspective of unity with diversity. Basic beliefs are delineated that are viewed as essential for unity as well as a clarification of the issues that are understood as acceptable areas of diversity in the Body of Christ. Initially a survey tool was sent to 70 parish teams across the US. The questionnaire asked for information to study the make-up of a team, while asking each person to define team ministry, the strengths and weaknesses of this ministry and several questions asking about the group's interaction associated with decision-making, conflicts, power and authority.  The research shows that teams define themselves differently.  Yet all groups agreed that much dialogue and intense work is needed if they are to become a team.  The more successful teams allowed room for individual differences, encouraged group interaction and used skills to help them deal with conflicts.  Commitment to group dynamics is essential for a staff to become a more cohesive group. This thesis proposes a vital part of the answer to this problem by presenting a biblical model of addiction and ministry to the addicted. The author points out the flaws in 12-step groups and provides an alternative which is biblical in its approach. This alternative is called Higher Ground, a local church-sponsored, Christ-centered support group for the addicted and the family.  The author presents a history of this ministry, shows how it implements biblical principles and evaluates the effectiveness of this ministry with statistics and case studies. Since a satisfied volunteer remains in a given position longer than an unsatisisfied volunteer, specific methods for increasing personal fulfillment are applied.  In Section I, volunteers discover their TEAM--Temperament, Experiences, Abilities, and Motivators.  As the volunteer learns more about the person God has designed him to be, he can better understand the ministry God has designed him to do.  In Section II, the supervisor learns how a volunteer's ministry can be enhanced when he receives CARE from his ministry supervisor--Clarified expectations, Agreed upon objectives, Reviewed progress, and being Equipped for growth. In the final section, the supervisor is instructed to encourage his volunteers to GROW--Get to know God, Relate wisely to others, be Open to personal change, and be Willing to profit from problems. The project is designed to identify and use those marketing approaches which will be the most effective in attracting visitors to the First Baptist Church of Oceanside.  A secondary aim of this project is to create a resource which will assist other established, traditional churches in similar situations as they seek to effectively 'market' their ministry for the glory of God.  The reason why this project was undertaken is to focus and maximize the limited marketing resources, time and effort which the church has in order to increase the number of church visitors.  The church will then be able to witness from a position of strength as it specifically reaches out to those who by their presence indicate a spiritual receptivity. Five strategic marketing strategies are identified, tried and evaluated based upon a survey of 498 visitors over a 25 month period.  A statistical analysis is made comparing the relative effectiveness of each marketing strategy. This project explores the rationale and the biblical guidelines for the training of youth pastors.  It also presents a youth ministry concentration model designed for that purpose. Included is a study of the training of youth pastors in the Assemblies of God and more specifically at Southeastern College of the Assemblies of God.  Southeastern's prior effectiveness in preparing men and women to be youth pastors is evaluated through surveying alumni who graduated over a twelve-year period.  Others who are experienced in the field of youth ministry were asked to evaluate the youth ministry concentration model.
