The aim was to generate new knowledge about these needs by developing a support group. The software provided the teaching mechanisms; the teacher provided the information to be taught by that software. Journals were kept of the lesson creation and lesson teaching experiences.  Some participants were interviewed following the learning experiences. It also reports the results of such a pilot program in a United Methodist church in Texas in 1987. Many varied resources for gifts clarification are identified and analyzed.  Ministries are defined as services which are rendered by all members of the church, lay and clergy, within and outside the church's gathered life.  The study outlines the efforts of a gifts discovery project in a local congregation.  The work of the planning team, an evaluation of their work, and an evaluation of the project are included.  The essential elements of a ministry of gifts discovery are identified. The pastors living within the boundaries of the Presbytery of Northern New York completed a test and a questionnaire was submitted to executive presbyters in the Synod of the Northeast.  The author ascertained that burn-out and stress was indeed a problem.  Three specific projects were initiated for evaluation and testing.  They included a retreat, pastoral supervision model and pastoral/clergy support group.
