The history, doctrine and philosophy of education is investigated and comparisons are made between the schools in organization and operation. A caring seminar was developed and conducted in three North American Baptist churches of Alberta, Canada.  Ideas from current caring resources were presented by the leader. Participants explored and evaluated their personal and church caring by means of questionnaires, one on one fellowship, and small group sharing.  They also evaluated the seminar by a feedback form. Preaching is defined as the proclamation of the Word of God through lecturing.  Historically, within the author's Methodist tradition, preaching has been a lecture--totally void of narrative, illustrations or even questions.  Within recent years a variety of teaching methods have been incorporated into preaching delivery but the use of these methods has seldom been questioned or even tested. Five workshops, with continual evaluation and reflection, were conducted in three settings: in a cluster of churches, in a continuing education course for ministers involving theological reflection, and in one local church.  There was steady growth in understanding by facilitator and participants.
