Both community resource persons and church members join in a ministry to the latchkey child.  The pilot program is a model for small congregations interested in outreach ministry. It also includes their spiritual formation through a quiet day, worship, contemplation, and reflection upon study, and limited field experience in selected ministries of evangelization.  The project provides opportunities for prayer and reflection upon this part of the mission of the church to more effectively proclaim the gospel in word and deed. Drawing upon this experience, the core group engages in the training of others for this ministry. The study involved eight learning sessions that identified the strengths which members had for a ministry of care. Individuals were trained to creatively use skills of caregiving to members and to the mission community of Bethany Christian Church in time of need.  The project also provided ways for participants who were unable to attend the sessions to become involved in caregiving. The study suggests the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada assume a leadership role with other Christians to facilitate re-evangelization of the region.  Research methodology results in a presentation of a missionary history of the north, an undergirding mission theology, design of relevant ministry and Christian community models, principles for planning and implementation and a thematic collation of judicatorial reader responses which influence significantly the proposal. The use of a worship committee is a logical outgrowth of a theology of participation.  The basic purpose of the study was to develop a worship committee planning model and to test this model by offering a training course to worship planners from four diverse Mennonite congregations.  The effectiveness of the model and the course were evaluated by course participants.  Both were strongly affirmed.
