The planning and conducting of the program was accomplished within a setting of resistance in a church which had not conducted a serious stewardship campaign in eighteen years. The project includes four stewardship workshops, four stewardship sermons, plans for a commitment Sunday, and a celebration. For evaluative purposes the project is divided into four categories: 1) pre-test; 2) post-test; 3) six-week post-test; and 4) personal assessment telephone interviews. The first hypothesis, that there would be significant disagreement (defined as 15 percentage points) between the chaplains and civilian clergy on the issues surveyed, was proven false.  The data did support the second hypothesis, which stated that chaplains would be more informed than the civilian clergy on questions involving the chaplain-denominational relationship. The result informs four tasks of pastoral care: 1) training of volunteer leadership, 2) planning job careers with teens, 3) offering spiritual direction, and 4) assisting worship leaders in their planning.  Pastoral care is trinitarian.  Gifts given in creation (personality types) provide the means to the common unity to which the Church is called (sanctification). Such harmony is made possible through atonement (redemption). Decisions are made by consensus.  Plurality is acknowledged. Variety is cherished.
